Sr. Officer, namely Capt. Edwin Jyothi, Director Naval Education and Commander Ms. P. Manorama from Indian Navy HQ , New Delhi visited Andhra University and met Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. P.V.G.D Prasad Reddy, Prof. V. Krishna Mohan, Registrar , Andhra University and Dr. Ujjwal Kumar Ghatak, Academic Advisor for implementation of MoU signed for M.Tech Program for Indian Navy Technical Officers in Andhra University in the area of Mechanical Engineering, EEE, ECE, CSE and  Defence Technology jointly with Andhra University and DRDO. 

The Officers will be studying regular in A.U Campus for the period of 2 semesters and balance 2 semesters will be in Naval Technical Establishments for dissertations work. At the end of 4th Semesters they will be awarded M.Tech degree from Andhra University. This is very unique for any state University in India. Previously this program used to be conducted in IIT’s but this is very first time Andhra University going to conduct regular M.Tech Program for Defence serving officers in Andhra University campus. Capt. Edwin said that this is very first time Indian Navy decided to send their Technical Officers in A.U. Campus only for one year out of two (2) years program and balance 1(one) year Officers will be on job student in their own Technical establishments of Indian Navy , so that Indian Navy can able to utilize the Technical expertise of their personnel. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University accepted several proposals of Indian Navy HQ’s to facilitate Higher Education of dependents of Indian Navy Personnel all over India through regular mode and also through online MOOCS program. The Registrar of Andhra University asked Indian Navy to start admission w.e.f Academic Year 2022-23. Dr. Ujjwal Kumar Ghatak coordinated and organized the visits of Naval HQ Senior Officers in A.U. Campus.
