Waltair Division of East Coast Railway has taken innovative initiative to setup a Sleeping Pod facility (Capsule Hotel) under Non-Fare Revenue at Visakhapatnam Railway station. Divisional Railway Manager Shri Lalit Bohra addressing on the occasion said that there is a consistent demand for accommodation facilities at Visakhapatnam station, as it caters to a diverse range of passengers like those visiting for medical treatment, tourism, education, and industrial employment. Most of the time, the existing accommodations remain over-occupied.
Hence, to address this demand and ensure a comfortable stay and travel experience for visitors to Visakhapatnam, Waltair Division has initiated this project on a pilot basis, following the model implemented in many metropolitan cities, DRM said.
This facility is first of its kind in ECoR Zone which is a modern and budget-friendly accommodation facility for the passengers. Sri Mahalakshmi Agency secured the project in e-auction for 5years.This facility is available to the passenger at PF No. 1, Gate No. 3, 1st Floor of Visakhapatnam Railway Station.

At the conclusion DRM said that Rozgar Mela will be organised by the Railway Ministry at Sagarmala Convention Hall, Visakhapatnam Port Trust Quarters, Kailasapuram, Visakhapatnam on 12th July-2025. Hon’ble Prime Minister of India will inaugurate the ROZGAR MELA at 10:30 AM via video conference and address the newly appointed candidates. Hon’ble Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu will be the dignitary at Visakhapatnam.
