The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway, in association with the Visakhapatnam City Police, has launched prepaid auto-rickshaw services at Duvvada Railway Station, further enhancing passenger convenience and safety. This initiative, already operational at Visakhapatnam station, aims to streamline last-mile connectivity for rail commuters.
Dedicated prepaid service counters have been provided at these railway stations to assist the traveling public. Passengers can easily avail themselves of this facility by depositing the fare for their respective destinations in advance at the dedicated office. This transparent process ensures clarity on the exact amount payable and eliminates the hassle of fare discussions.
The prepaid service at Duvvada Railway Station was formally inaugurated by Shri Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair and Shri Sankabratha Bagchi, Commissioner of Police, Visakhapatnam in presence of members of the City Auto-Rickshaw Association and officers from both the Waltair Division and the City Police. Over 70 auto-rickshaws have been enlisted to provide this service at present.
Highlighting the benefits of the initiative, Shri Lalit Bohra, DRM, Waltair, said “This system offers passengers a clear and convenient fare structure, assuring transparency and a secure journey within city limits.”
Commissioner of Police Shri Sankabratha Bagchi said, “All vehicles engaged in the prepaid service have been equipped with GPS tracking systems, enhancing passenger safety under the surveillance of Andhra Pradesh Police.”
Local representatives and association members also extended their congratulations, expressing satisfaction that this facility will be especially beneficial to commuters during nighttime hours.
Further expanding this facility, similar prepaid auto-rickshaw services are scheduled to be introduced at Simhachalam Railway Station soon.
