The 60th All India Railway Ball Badminton Championship concluded today at the Waltair Railway Sports Arena, marking an exciting chapter in Visakhapatnam. The prestigious event was graced by Shri B.S.K. Raj Kumar, Additional General Manager of East Coast Railway, as Chief Guest. Seven teams from various railway zones participated with tremendous zeal, making the event a grand success under the capable conduct of the East Coast Railway Sports Association (ECoRSA) Waltair.
Shri Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager, served as the Guest of Honour for the occasion. The closing ceremony was attended by a distinguished gathering, including Shri Ajaya Samal, General Secretary & Chief Engineer (Construction)-II, ECORSA; Shri Manoj Kumar Sahoo, ADRM (Operations); Shri E. Santharam, ADRM (Infrastructure); Shri M. Haranath, Sports Officer & Sr. DFM; Treasurer & Sr DPO Shri Jusuf Kabir Ansari; Shri Vikas Choudhary, Sports Coordinator, Railway Sports Promotion Board; Shri R. Venkata Rao, Chairman of the AP State Ball Badminton Association; Assistant Sports Officers Shri Sh. Patil and Shri Sahu; General Secretary Smt. N. Usha; and representatives of recognized unions, among other dignitaries.
Sports Officer of EcoRSA Waltair, Shri Haranath, delivered a warm welcome address and outlined the details of the sporting event.
Congratulating the participants, Shri A.K. Samal, General Secretary/ECoRSA/Bhubaneswar, highlighted Waltair Division’s immense potential for nurturing sports talent and developing infrastructure that supports sporting excellence. He announced that more sporting events are planned for the near future at Waltair Railway Stadium.
In his remarks, DRM Shri Lalit Bohra commended ECoRSA Waltair for organizing the championship efficiently within a limited timeframe despite challenging weather conditions. He appreciated the commitment of all officers and sportspersons, whose collective efforts ensured the success of the event.
Chief Guest Shri B.S.K. Raj Kumar, AGM, ECoR, congratulated all teams, especially the winners, for their dedication and sportsmanship. He praised Waltair Division’s robust sports resources and high standards, describing the venue as a hub for sporting excellence in Visakhapatnam.
